I need healthcare coverage now. What are my options?

Right now in Rhode Island, there is only one choice for coverage if you do not qualify for the state's RIte Care program. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island is the only licensed insurer for individuals and families that do not get coverage through an employer.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island has a number of program available to Rhode Islanders, including the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) that was created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). PCIP provides more afforable coverage to Rhode Islanders that would otherwise pay more for their insurance because of medical conditions. In order to qualify for PCIP, you must have been uninsured for at least the last 6 months. For more information on PCIP and other Blue Cross Blue Shield options, please visit their website.
